Dining Table Makeover
When I moved to Kansas City; I only had my bed, my couch, and my desk in terms of furniture. I basically started from scratch which is how I like to move (not much to have to deal with). My cousin lives in the area and gave me a few pieces including the round dining room table I have now. It fits perfectly in my space but the color was just not my vibe. This is the first piece of large furniture I have worked on and I ended up loving it! See below for my process. *I am not a professional just FYI
I started with removing the top and sanding down all of the rough parts. It is an older table so there were a few pieces of wood sticking out and I didn’t want to get splinters.
Once that was done, I went to Menards and purchased some supplies. I knew I wanted the table to be shiny and not matte so I bought some cabinet paint with a semi-gloss finish. I also used a standard, synthetic angle brush. Not for sure if that’s the best option but it’s what I had on hand so it’s what I used. It worked great!
I had to do a few coats to cover the blue but the process itself did not take long at all. Once the paint was dry, I just put it back together and bought the accessories. The table did not come with chairs so I bought these 4 from Amazon. (I am not happy with the quality so I will be getting different ones in the future). The rug also came from Amazon and the items on top of the table are from HomeGoods. I am happy with how this turned out and I hope this inspires you to try a new D.I.Y. even if you aren’t a pro!
